Purpose of the post & Major duties and Responsibilities:
- Under close supervision of the Finance Officer, performs moderately specialized tasks in the accounting and finance function:
- Review payment requests/invoices/accounting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Maintains and updates financial records for office accounts for which responsibility is assigned; Codes and records receipts and payments, assures accuracy of computation and completeness of documents;
- Prepares recurring reports on assigned accounts, noting problems resulting from excess cost or less-than-expected receipts.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare special reports to clarify problems or as requested for other reasons;
- Calculating Overtime and perform payroll processing for national staff;
- Monitor the outstanding VAT and follow up with suppliers and URA for VAT refund;
- Maintains contacts with local banks to clarify questions pertaining to office bank accounts;
- Assists newly arriving or departing staff members on opening or closing bank accounts, exchanging currency and other financial matters;
- Participate in financial spot checks and training of Implementing Partners;
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes
- Completion of secondary education.
- Formal training in accounting for at least one year.
- Ability to operate PC, calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts.
- Additional relevant commercial training is desirable.
- Five years of experience in accounting clerical work.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of one or two local languages.
- Aptitude for figures and accuracy.
- Ability in drafting routine correspondence.
- Ability to apply various work methods.

POST: EDUCATION SPECIALIST (CHILD FRIENDLY SCHOOLS –CFS)
Grade: NOC

Purpose of the post & Major duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Education Specialist (BRMS), the Education
- Specialist (CFS) will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and quality assurance of the Child Friendly Schools (CFS) Programme;Design, prepare and implement the CFS initiatives under Basic Education;
- Ensure gender responsiveness, quality and accelerated implementation of CFS projects undertaken by the Local Governments; Undertake regular monitoring of the CFS projects in the region and recommend action for adjustment to and compliance with relevant policies and guidelines;
- Collaborate with Local Government and district education offi cials and civil society partners to develop and maintain reliable data base disaggregated by sex and other key variables;Ensure effective coordination and synergy between formal and non-formal education and other components of the Basic Education Programme including Violence Against Children in School, Child Friendly Schools, community engagement, youth and school feeding;Regularly link with the Local Government structures at various levels and provide technical advice and assistance as needed; Contribute towards preparation of programme/project status reports required for management, donors, budget review, programme analysis, annual reports, etc.
- Advanced University Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related technical field.
- Five years of responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in Programme management, monitoring and evaluation in education or a related field.
- Knowledge of latest developments in the field of basic education with emphasis on primary education
- Fluency in English required and another UN working language an asset, Knowledge of local working language of the duty station an asset

POST: PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
Grade: GS – 6
Duty Station: Kampala
Type and Duration of contract: Fixed Term Appointment (One year with possible extension)
Purpose of the post & major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the head of the office or other professional officer, performs a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services of moderate scope and difficulty in support of Programme activities;
Organize data and information, prepare and maintain records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/ Programme implementation; Scrutinize plans of operations, exchange of letters and take appropriate follow-up action, assist in processing government requests;
Contribute to the preparation of reports, project documents and submissions to Government by providing information, preparing tables;
Prepare background information for use in discussions with Government and other organizations; Carry out specific administrative operational/ control tasks for project/Programme activities; Provide administrative/ logistic support during meetings and workshops; Takes notes, draft s routine and non-technical correspondence and formats and type a wide variety of materials in the cluster using different computer software’s used in the office e.g. MS-Word, Excel, Lotus; Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes
- Completion of secondary school, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work of the Organisation.
- Six years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year is closely related to support of Programme activities.

POST: SENIOR ICT ASSISTANT
Grade: GS – 7
Duty Station: Kampala
Type of contract and Duration: Fixed Term Appointment (One year with possible extension)
Purpose of the post & Major duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the ICT Manager, the incumbent is responsible for installation, administration, monitoring and management of the Data networks involving Wi-Fi Bridges and Access points, first level hardware support for IT equipment; administration of out sourced maintenance of the organization’s telecommunications infrastructure which includes VSAT, telephones and radio communications. He or she will assist in identification and assessing the need for new IT and telecoms equipment and spares for the office, and provide user support and training on UNICEF internal applications and systems and manages the ICT inventory.
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes
- Completion of Secondary education supplemented with formal training (at university level) in Computer Science or Business Administration or computer related certification. Formal data networks training in Cisco (CNNA) or higher, other IT certifi cations (e.g.; A+ certifi cation, ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent customer support certification).
- Seven years practical professional work experience in information technology operations and principles, as well as systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problem solving, providing assistance to users on ICT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools. Good knowledge of Windows 7 and MSOffi ce 2010 products.Practical experience with various computer platforms and applications.
- Experience in the UN system desirable.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
